ITINERARY: Sóller - costa d'en Flassada – viewpoint of ses Barques - costa d'en Nicó - Fornalutx
This walk is one of the two routes to the viewpoint of ses Barques. Walk up costa d' en Flassada and follow costa d' en Nicó to reach Fornalutx
The starting point of this attractive walk is plaça de la Constitució in Sóller (very near the train station). To get to the football pitch take carrer de la Lluna and turn straight away into carrer de I'Onze de Maig, which leads to avinguda d'Astúries. The sports field is located at the end of the street. Walk to the left of the field and follow camí de ses Argiles.
Ignore the road on the left.
Several hundred metres further on, a sign indicates the beginning of the costa d'en Rassada on the right. The track rises steeply. It soon turns into a paved path, which runs between two walls through olive groves. The path crosses the Puig Major road, which was built in 1961.
The path crosses several tracks but the paved sections can be seen clearly through the olive groves. A bit further up, the path merges with the path of sa Capelleta (right), which is part of another route. The olive groves alternate with shady, thick holm oak forests, offering a wonderful scenery.
Further up, the path merges with the costa d'en Nicó, which will you must take later to go to Fornalutx. It is worth walking up for five more minutes to the viewpoint of ses Barques, where you can admire one of the best views of the port of Sóller while you enjoy a fresh orange juice.
To go down, follow the same path and turn following the signs into costa d'en Nicó (left). You will soon reach the road, which you must follow for a hundred metres before turning left. Walk along a track between olive groves. After crossing a barrier the track narrows into a path with several paved sections. The path merges once again with the road. Follow it for just a hundred metres to the left and take a track on the right that narrows straight away.

The walk takes 2.5 hours (stops not included), 1.5 hours up and 1 hour down.
Both costa d'en Flassada and costa d'en Nicó were restored thanks to a volunteer project organized by the Grup Excursionista de Mallorca in 2000 with the collaboration of the Sóller and Fornalutx Town Halls and the scout associations of the valley and the Consell de Mallorca.

Continue walking down while admiring the views of the valley. The track widens and narrows with water drains crossing it. It leads to the road near the Fornalutx junction. Follow a road on the other side that takes you directly to Fornalutx after a few bends. Several sections of the road preserve their stone paving. Follow the signs through the olive groves. The remains of a tile channel run parallel to the road. Soon afterwards you will reach the top part of Fornalutx. Enter the town along carrer dels Toros. Follow the street until you reach carrer de la Plaça, leading to plaça d'Espanya, the centre of Fornalutx. The walk finishes here.
